The Knowledge Expedition
The K-Web Project
FROM THE EMAIL:
We live in a time when access to vast amounts of information about virtually any subject is readily available! Yet we find ourselves increasingly compartmentalized and specialized in our understanding of it. Limited by our areas or expertise and overwhelmed by the sheer volume, we exist immersed in a kind of knowledge vacuum. If we were to find a more interrelated way to access knowledge could we inspire new ways of thinking and understanding?
Enter the knowledge web or k-web for short. Brainchild of James Burke author, teacher and host of PBS television series Connections, k-web aims to use the World Wide Web to present knowledge in a holistic manner. By allowing visitors to travel along interconnected pathways, exploring links between people, ideas and events the k-web in effect reminds us that knowledge is a journey not a destination.
